I Was Just Wondering
Philip Yancey
A collection of articles written by Philip Yancey. He describes it as a "book of many questions and few answers."
His writing can cause my mind to ponder the mysteries of life, love, and faith.

The Jesus I Never Knew
Philip Yancey
Of all Yancey's books, I think I like the first one I read the best. Maybe because I read it at a time when I was being told I was ungodly.
Jesus shows me the image of a God I long to know.

What's So Amazing About Grace?
Philip Yancey
Many consider this Yancey's best book. Chapter 13 talks about his friendship with Mel White.

Reaching for the Invisible God
Philip Yancey
Another good book by Yancey.

The Bible Jesus Read
Philip Yancey
The First (or Old) Testament is what Jesus used. In the middle of ugly stories, he found gems like "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind" and "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Finding God in Unexpected Places
Philip Yancey
Ok, I'm a fan of Yancey's writing. This is another book I own and is on my "To Read" list.

Church: Why Bother?
Philip Yancey
I walked away from my church back in 1999 because I felt unwelcome as someone who happened to be gay. I saw this in Yancey's collection of writings. I have yet to read it though.

Soul Survivor: How My Faith Survived the Church
Philip Yancey
This book covers 13 people of faith who have shaped Yancey's own faith. I especially enjoyed the chapters on Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Shusaku Endo, Henri Nouwen,
Leo Tolstoy & Feodor Dostoevsky. In my own journey, I have been shaped by Yancey's writings. I discovered Yancey in 1998 while I was a fundamentalist in a fundamentalist church and he was a beacon
of hope. Though probably not as liberal as I am, I still buy every book he writes. I look forward to the day when he affirms gay people and doesn't feel the need to immediately write about his own sinfulness
after mentioning his gay friends.

Philip Yancey
I saw this book in Wal-mart after the September 11th terrorist attacks and picked it up.
