6. Assembly Begins:

Yeah! It's finally all painted!
December 2: Tore down the spray booth (removed the plastic walls) and cleaned out the garage (a little).
December 3: Tried to start the mustang so I could move it to the garage but it was pretty cold, and it wouldn't start. The battery just wasn't strong enough to crank it over enough to start. Tried jumpers to the T-bird, but that didn't help much. Put a charger on it overnight.
December 4: Tried to start it again but with same problem. Checked the charger connection and battery cables. Recharged overnight again.
December 5: Tried to start the car again. Battery is charged, but it wouldn't start right away. Poured gas down the carb until it started. Let it run a few minutes in the cold weather to warm it up before parking it in the garage.
December 6: Glued the weather-stripping on the door bottoms, and trunk lid. Cleaned out the interior and installed the trim pieces on the sides behind the door (the so-called grille).

..........
December 7: Installed the rear bumper, rear extensions, trunk lid and  tail lights and simulated wire hub caps. (It's starting to look like a real car now!). I'm missing some bolts that hold the corners of the valance on so it looks like a big gap between the body and valance. The rear bumper looks OK, but is not very straight. Maybe later I'll get a new one, but we can't spend too much right now.

December 8: Sand-blasted the head light buckets after trying to use a wire brush. The wire brush wasn't doing such a good job. Also sand blasted the door latch mechanisms for both sides. Used my company's sand blasting booth. Works pretty good but make my hands and arms tired after using it for a while. Installed both rear quarter windows. What a pane that was. It took me a good half hour just to figure out how it all went back together after being apart for 16 years. Then it took me a good hour just to put one side in. The other side didn't take as long after I figured out how it was supposed to go together. Installed the quarter window seals also.
