Baptism on Easter Sunday, 2002

Baptism
At Baptism we become children of God and are made holy by the Holy Spirit. Baptism takes away original sin.
Please contact the parish office for an appointment. Baptisms are on Sundays.

Holy Eucharist
The Eucharist celebration is celebrated at every Mass in fulfilling Jesus' words at the Last Supper, "Do this in remembrance of Me."
Children at St. James prepare for the sacrament of First COmmunion in the second grade.

Penance (or Reconciliation)
This sacrament brings forth God's mercy and forgiveness of our sins. This sacrament is received through a priest and is part of the power of the priesthood. Winter hours are Saturday afternoons from 3:30 p.m., or by appointment. Call the parish office for further information.

Confirmation
After being born again in Baptism, Confirmation is the sacrament in which we receive the Holy Spirit. Confirmation formation for Catholics is every two years in the 9th and 10th grades. For adults, c
ontact the parish office for further information.

Anointing of the Sick (Extreme Unction)
This sacrament is given by anointing the afflicted with blessed oil and prayers in order to help with their sufferings and forgiveness of sins. Communal anointings are now held the 5th Sunday of the month: after the Sunday, 11:00 a.m. Mass. Check the bulletin for any changes. Individual anointings are by request.

Contact the parish office for further information.
Please inform us of any parishioners who are ill so we may visit them and offer the sacraments.

Marriage (Matrimony)
Engaged couples should contact the rectory regarding marriage at least six months in advance of the wedding date.

Holy Orders
The sacrament of Holy Orders was given to Jesus' apostles at the last supper. His apostles were made priests. They passed on their priestly power to other men in the Sacrament of Holy Order and enable these men to serve God's people through the Mass, Penance and Anointing of the Sick.
