 | A program has a name.
You need to double click to start a program or you can type the name in
Start .. Run .. to start a program |
 
 | A program has a location.
You need to change to the right directory to start the program. |
 | A program has minimum requirements. These are often spelled out on
the box when you purchase them.
It might not run if you do not have enough memory (16 Meg of RAM), enough
space on your hard drive(27 MB of space on C:\), or enough speed (Pentium
133). |
 | A program often comes with lots of files.
The main program has the extension .exe or .com
The other files might have the sounds (.wav) pictures (.jpg) text (.txt) or
other data in it. These files are often necessary to run the program. |
 | Sometimes your a program needs to tell your computer where it stores all
its files, where to write the high scores, what colors to use, etc. For all
these instructions, you often have to run SETUP.EXE or INSTALL.EXE to
take care of these different parts before you run the program. |
 | Windows can run several programs all at the same time, each in
their own window. You move from one program to another with ALT-TAB, or by
clicking on the taskbar. |
WRITING A BATCH FILE.
Write batch files in notepad, or save it as a text file, otherwise all kind
of formatting gets in the way.
