People that send e-mail, instant messages or lines in a chat room sometimes use a language that is not found anywhere else.
There are abbreviations, to say something in less time than it would take to type it. A famous example is LOL (laughing out loud). After somebody writes a very funny sentence you can simply respond with LOL.

For a more graphic display of your emotions, there are emoticons. These are expressions to show how you feel, such as smiley faces (look at them sideways).
