cope with commercial messages and protect family privacy

make sensible judgments about the people and information they find on the Internet

To accomplish this, parents may need to make choices about which sites their children use for Internet research. Parents may want to restrict younger Internet users to kid-safe search engines or portals (sites that direct users to specific types of information, such as homework help).
