Filtering, blocking, and monitoring.

Common wisdom says that filters are not perfect, and may create a false sense of security when installed. Programs vary with respect to their blocking protocol; some programs search and block sites with inappropriate terms in the URL only, other programs search for key words in the text of the site as well. Several of the programs are customizable, at least to a certain degree. Programs such as Cyber Snoop and Internet WatchDog simply monitor Internet usage, and are not designed to block inappropriate sites.

MP3 audio files

digital audio files which may be downloaded from the Internet. After downloading, it is possible to "burn" a CD and then play the audio files on a different computer. Also, software exists to convert conventional audio files to .MP3 files, thus creating a source of audio "piracy."
