Here at Morning Star Church, we believe that every person who has committed to live for Jesus is a minister in the Body of Christ. The Lord has uniquely gifted each believer for a place of service in His Kingdom. Our leaders consider it their job to equip, train, nurture, and encourage each member of our church into the place of maturity and ministry to which they have been called.
Ray Renner
(ray@morningstarchurch.net) is our Coordinating Minister here at Morning Star Church. He has been preaching, teaching, and/or pastoring in some capacity in the Anderson area since 1970. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and has a wonderful testimony of how Jesus spared his life so that he could come home and live for Him. He and Carol, married in 1972, have two grown sons, Eli and Luke, and seven grandchildren. In addition to his responsibilities at Morning Star, he spends a good deal of time organizing and taking short-term mission trips all over the world. He and Carol founded Shekinah Ministries, an organization dedicated to planting and nurturing churches all over the globe.
Tom Hunt
(tom@morningstarchurch.net) is one of our elders, and our Minister of Pastoral Care. He and his wife, Nina, have five sons; Chris, Paul, Mike, Tim, and Tommy. Tom and Nina have hearts that radiate the healing touch of God, and are sold out to Jesus. Tom's giftings make him uniquely qualified for both administrative detail and pastoral care. His heart for the broken and wounded is a reflection of the heart of Jesus for His church. Tom's listening ear and wisdom for counseling make him a vital part of our ministry team.
Randy Hornbeck
(randy@morningstarchurch.net) is our third elder, and he is also a full-time Madison County Sheriff's Deputy. Formerly, he and his German Shepherd, Harras, made up the canine unit for the Madison County Sheriff's Department. He and his wife Kim were married in 1977 and have three daughters; Amy, Meagan, and Leah. Randy has a heart for revival and the manifest presence of the Lord and serves in various capacities in the church as his time allows. Kim leads our women's ministry, works part-time in the church office, and serves as a deaconess in the church.
