MISSIONS

In April of 1993, Ray Renner and Gary King, a minister with Apostolic Team Ministries from Celina, Ohio, traveled to Moscow, Russia, to attend a minister's conference designed to link American ministers and churches with Russian ministers. On the last day of the conference, they met Yuri Lyashevskiy Nikolaivich. He had been praying for someone to come and help him plant a church in his hometown of Samara, the third largest city in Russia. Ray and Gary went with Yuri on a train to Samara and met with a small group of believers meeting in the home of Yuri and his wife, Nina. Since those humble beginnings, Ray has returned to Russia several times each year for outreach evangelism and to strengthen the church. The church there is continuing to grow, and is presently in the process of constructing its own building.

Glow Ministries International, founded by Bettie Snyder, operates a school and church in Grand Goude, Haiti. Bettie has been a friend of Morning Star Church for several years, and we are delighted to see the wonderful things she does for the Lord in Haiti. Her heart is to serve the Lord by taking care of orphaned and poor children in Haiti. She has fed and clothed countless Haitian children and has shown the love of Jesus to the people of Haiti for many years now. Glow Ministries is raising funds to erect a building to house the church and school, which currently meets in a primitive hut with a thatched roof.

Billy and Brenda Seibert founded Street Level, Inc., in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Street Level shares Christ through friendship, evangelism, and community development with a goal to influence every strata of culture with the good news that Jesus came to save the French Quarter of New Orleans. The staff of Street Level frequent coffee houses, bars, pool halls, and the streets, making relationships with their neighbors in the Quarter, earning the right to speak the truth into their lives. They regularly invite their friends into their homes for hospitality, and celebrate Christ by serving their Quarter friends lavish holiday feasts. Street Level also stands in the gap during Mardi Gras, ministering prayer and acts of kindness and mercy to the multitudes.
