MARCH 5th MEETING notes

I. OLD BUSINESS
TREASURER'S REPORT: $749.36 balance.
PROGRAM:
JoAnne Titolo, reporting for the program committee, stated that Stephanie Funcheon (local artist and art teacher) is tentatively scheduled to present for the August program.
The Plein Air Assn is planning a Fall function, according to Kathryn Clark; Details will be forthcoming.
FRANKFORT SHOW: Becky Chapman reported that the Fankfort show has been extended, the take down will now be March 30 and you can pick up your pieces at the April 2 meeting (otherwise the pieces will be stored at the Wells Center). Helen Weisflog, Ron Burgess, and JoAnne Titolo have agreed to help with the show.
THORNTOWN SHOW: May 4, 11:00- 1:00 at TAF. The show needs a name. The Thorntown drop off will be from 11-1 with hanging starting at 2pm. If you are taking your art down to Thorntown it was requested you have your art there by 2:30. If you are going to have WAA transport it is a $5 fee, and bring your art ready to travel. Show-hanging will be from 2-7 PM, May 4, 2008. Opening is scheduled for May 9. Details to be worked out. Deb Remsburg will do labels for this show.
THEME SHOW: JoAnne Titolo will do labels for this show.
TAF MEMBER SERVICES MEETING is this Thursday March 13 at noon -- downstairs in the East Meeting Room.
ANNUAL TAF MEETING is April 25 6-8pm to meet the board $10 per person $15 a couple
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Kudos to Vanderkolk and Zentall
Linda Vanderkolk is being honored during a public ceremony during Arts Day at the Statehouse, an annual celebration of the arts highlighting the importance of public funding for the arts, on Monday, February 25th, 2008 at 10:30am. Sydney Zentall's Sculpted by Wind, was selected in the Lt. Governor Becky Skillman's 2008 Celebration of Hoosier Women Artists competition from over eighty submissions.
2. NEW BUSINESS:
Marilyn Smith, Montgomery County representative for Region IV Arts Council was introduced as a friend of member Karen Patton. Discussion ensued regarding The Crawfordsville Art League, 100 years old this year, and the yearly show in Crawfordsville. Details will follow.
PROGRAM:
Tetia Lee, the new TAF Director, discussed her background, gave information about Arts Intersect-- an online monthly e-newsletter which highlights the arts and culture of the region-- http://webmail.wintek.com/mailman/listinfo/arts-intersect. She also elaborated on the impending arts strategic plan for which a consultant from New York has been hired to find out what the community wants and needs in regard to the arts. Money is reputedly available from the National Endowment for the Arts through the State. Tetia circulated examples from her interesting portfolio and samples from her students works. Questions and discussion followed.
NEXT MEETING: April 2. Sydney will do the agenda, but will not be in town to chair this meeting. Nancy will chair in her absence. (Thanks Steve for the nomination€ť).
