Scoutmaster E-mail 5/26:
We have a new Eagle Scout!
After a tremendous effort and a fantastic project, Stephen Bush is our newest
Eagle Scout. Thank you to everyone who helped Stephen in his project and congratulations
to Stephen. Stephen is now our 3rd Eagle after Patrick Miner and Matt Northrup.
Let's have some more!
Lost and Found Barrel
Left at the Shot gun and rifle shoot - Greg Zinkan's black insulated water bottle
and a small bunji cord
Left at the last scout meeting/swim - a pair of large jeans, elastic top
Shotgun and Rifle Shoot
A Big Thank You to helping parents and Senior Scouts:
Jennifer Hughey, Pat McKenzie and Matt Northrup manned the 12 gauge shot gun
range
Joe Novicki, John McKenzie and Dustin Hicks handled the 20 gauge shot gun range
Alan Zinkan, Ken Collingwood, Evan Sadler and for the afternoon Garrett Scott-Miller
qualified the scouts on the 22
Phil Watson and Zach Terry manned the AK-47 range
Doug Hicks replenished our ice many times and helped me get the ammo and many
other things
Garrett ran a gun cleaning course Saturday night for the boys.
All of the boys passed gun safety and qualified on the 22 rifles:Josh Collingwood,
Barrett Collins, Ryan Hughey, Dan Martin, Nate Novicki, Gavin Scott-Miller,
Shane Toombs, Dan Wunderle, and Greg Zinkan.
Qualifying on shot gun: Nate Novicki and Dan Wunderle. Very close was Barrett
Collins.
We moved our shot gun and rifle shoot in May to get some milder weather. A sunny
85 degree afternoon wasn't what we were looking for on the treeless gun range!
All the boys conducted themselves well, but we were all so busy I forget to
get any pictures.

but thanks again for your wonderful contribution to the troop!
Sam's Club Popcorn Sales
After finishing the accounting for Sam's, We have prayerfully decided to give
all the money we earned to the Scouts.
If Sam's matches up to $1000, which they are still considering, we will keep
those funds for the troop and the things we need, like shelves for our trailer.
The 23 Scouts who participated have each had $50.00added to their account. This
includes the 35% they would normally receive from Scouting as we as an additional
30% that normally goes to the Council. Please just remember that we won't get
to keep this percentage of sales in the fall.

New rules in W. Va.- I measured all the scouts on the Shot gun and Rifle shoot
and they are all tall enough
If your scout really wants to go but the trip is not affordable, please see
me individually, and we will work something out.
We want to find a way for every scout who wants to do a trip to be able to go.
Lake Monroe
Save the 9th through 11th of July for this trip
Dale Hollow Island Camping
We have our island - Geiger Island, the north tip of the island.
This trip is planned for August 4th through 7th. We are exploring whether we
can move it to July 28th -31st?
It's not moved yet - We're just exploring.
Cost: $60 - we should be ok. (Most of this is for the motorboats)
Planning to go:
Predators & Doubtful Dynasty: Stephen Bush, Dustin Hicks, Matt Northrup,Derek
Sadler, Jimmy Figy, Zack Terry
Sharks: Evan Sadler
Arrows: Dan Wunderle
Vipers: Jake Terry, Philip Gilliam
Eagles: Ryan Hughey, Dan Martin, Nate Novicki, Gavin Scott-Miller, Shane Toombs
Adults: Jon Northrup, Doug Hicks, Jeff & Julie Terry, Joe & Robin Novicki,
Jennifer Hughey, possibly Phil Watson.
We need tow vehicles - as I can't tow both the trailer & my boat.
We will be putting in at the Sulphur Creek Marina and motoring to the island.
Adults and families coming down can stay in cabins at the marina, or at Dale
Hollow Lake State Resort Park. Anything in the Pusley Creek, Casey Branch, Dale
Hollow State Park and Sulphur Creek Areas would be convenient.
Sulphur Creek MArina can be reached at:
http://www.sulphurcreek.com/

On the island there will be only a pit toilet. However, we will be close to the public bath house (9am to 9pm), but it will be a motorboat ride away.
