This site is a non-functional mock-up simply to display what I can and cannot do with web design. The links to the left will NOT work. I use such programs as EVRSoft's FirstPage 2000 (an excellent free html/javascript editor), Adobe's PhotoShop 6, Macromedia's Dreamweaver (vary handy for CSS editing, and for more complex JavaScripts), and GlobalScape's CuteFTP 2. Occasionally I use other obscure programs or website applets to further my needs, depending on what my needs might actually be. =)
And, most importantly, I ALWAYS use correct X/HTML and CSS, validated by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), the governing body of web design. And, like any true web developer, I use Mozilla's Firefox browser so I can surf the web without hassle, the way it should be.
Please hover your mouse over the links, check out my source code. I stay away from embedding style into my content via CSS, avoid browser-specific coding, and tend to favor functional over flavor. But that's just my opinion. For other examples of my work, please explore the list below.
- I took a open source JavaScript / DHTML menu system and customized it for a friend along with a basic layout and color scheme--the menu is at the top of the page. The content is hers.
- While at college, I did an something akin to an internship to create a website for Kentucky Railway Museum. They stopped responding to my calls and emails and therefore never actually received the design, but I still have my design. This design has a glitch in it that distorts it by using a resolution larger than 1024 x 768 (if you use a larger resolution, just scale your browser window down and the site should automatically resize. The orignal versin used Server Side Includes, but Insight Hosting does not support that, so the Includes were manually copied into the index file.
- A while back, Mike Purchis did a photography session of my wife and myself. His webpage was outdated, so I considered offering a makeover for pro-bono to gather a portfolio. The project did not get underway, but I still have a couple of styles I created to demo for him. You can see the black & white colortone and the colored style.
- I used to be a big fan of the fantasy series The Wheel Of Time, by Robert Jordan. At one point in time, I ran a fanbased hobby website dedicated to the series. You can see something of what WOTmasters used to look like.
