Daniel 9:26
1-16-2000

It came to my attention that the servants of J-s-s have began using Dan 9:26 to say it is referring to him and it is proof that he is the Messiah. It amazes me how they will grab at anything to prove J is the Messiah. As I look at these people, especially those that have a very high possibility of being the descendants of the Israelites in the Tanakh and OT, I began to wonder what was it all for? If YHVH were to come right now and have a mass exodus back to the land of Canaan would we be any deferent from the way we acted in the Five Books of Moses? We continue to have and worship other gods, we continue to not follow the Words of YHVH through saying they are void, basically a lot of us continue to be rebels.

Below you can find my response to the servants of J using Dan 9:26 as proof J is the Messiah.

First of all, you can not counter everything about J. Not because it is real, but because a large part of the NT was created through plagiarizing from the OT. The best thing you can do is show them specific things that was spoken by YHVH Himself:

Isa:43:11: I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Isa:45:21: Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

Hosea:13:4: Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

And be sure to point out that those passages are in first person point of view. This will let them know it is not you that they are arguing with, let them know that you are only presenting what YHVH has spoken. Most of the time when I do this they jump on the trinity thing that J is YHVH. Then you need to show them this passage.

Isa:40:18: To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

Isa:46:5: To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?

Let them know that Isa: 46:5 is first person. Maybe they will realize what they are doing, some do and some do not. After showing them these things and they continue to defend J against YHVH then leave them be for their eyes have been covered and there ears stopped, it is their destiny.

In my study of the Scripture I have also learned how to accept fate. I have realized that a lot of us will fall and die without knowledge. Even when fire comes from the sky these types of people will not recognize that it is the fire from the sky that was spoken of and prophesied in the OT. They will simply see it as a rocket or nuclear bomb shot from another country. These are people that are outside of the circle or aura of understanding; these are a no people.

KJV
Dan 9:
26: And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

English Bible
Dan 9:
26: And after sixty two weeks shall an anointed one be cut off, and nothing will be left to him; and the people of a prince who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and to the end of the war desolations are decreed.

As for Dan 9:26, it takes some studying to understand this or began to see it. That's why I ask you to present first the passages that show YHVH Himself speaking, basically if those people will not even raise an eyebrow to listen to YHVH, they for sure ain't going to listen to you.

I have found one of the main ways to disprove prophecies that have been applied to J is to find the place in the OT were those prophesies actually took place with in the OT itself. This is one of the methods I used in figuring out who Isaiah 53 is talking about. You will find that most of the prophecies in the OT are dealing with the times of the OT. You will find very, very little prophecy dealing with our time all thou there are some.

So lets examine this Dan 9:26. First of all we have to set it in its correct time frame of when it was spoken. If you would go to my page to "time line of the kings part II" scroll down to Daniel's time of speaking. We can also see this in the beginning of Daniel:

Dan 1: 1: In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it. 2: And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

So we see that Daniel was one of those taken in the first war of Jerusalem vs. Babylon. He was taken in the third year of Jehoiakim's reign in Jerusalem. I suspect this prophecy cam to Daniel in the eighth year of his captivity. Reason being; Dan 9:24, specifically "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city". When we go back through the Scripture we find that the seventy weeks are metaphoric to these passages:

Jer:25:11: And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Dan:9:2: In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

The reason I suspect this prophesy came to Daniel on the eighth year of his captivity in Babylon is due to this section, "And after threescore and two weeks…", so we take 70 - 62(threescore and two) = 8 years.

So know we see that this Messiah spoken of will be the one person responsible for bringing Judah and several of Israel out of the first captivity from Babylon. He will be a leader and he will be of Judah. This is what classifies him for Messiah.

Just by examining this passage thus far we have already disproved it is speaking of J. According to the NT J was not even born then, unless we say that Rome is actually Babylon, then we open up a whole other can of warms, so the servants of J are reluctant to agree that Rome is Babylon.

Some people would say that this Messiah was Cyrus king of Persia. Cyrus was indeed referred to as anointed and as the shepherd:

Isa:44:28: That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

Isa:45:1: Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

The problem I have with this is Cyrus was not of Judah. One way to deal with this further is to look for the next story or the writings that occurred immediately after or during Judah and a percentage of Israel being freed from the captivity of Babylon and returning to Jerusalem to rebuild the House of YHVH. This story would be Ezra. With in Ezra we need to look at all of the people that were leaders and assisted in building the House of YHVH. To narrow our search to a possible Messiah of this event or time this leader needs to be of the house of Judah. I personally could only find one. This one is only mentioned a couple of times. This implies a sudden death (shall Messiah be cut off). This would be a man referred to as Sheshbazzar. Below you can find the hits on his name through a whole Bible search:

Ezra:1:8: Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

Ezra:1:11: All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

Ezra:5:14: And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

Ezra:5:16: Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.

As you can see by the hits, Sheshbazzar did indeed do work on building the House of YHVH; he was of the tribe Judah; he was a Prince; he was apart of a great deliverance; he was a leader in this deliverance and through studying and reading Ezra you can see this House was built in troubled times. The times were so troubled it is possible that the House was never completed. All the rulers on that side of the river fought to not let the Temple of YHVH be rebuilt.

Ezra 4: 4: Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, 5: And hired counsellers against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

What the servants of J fail to realize is there were a number of Messiahs through out the OT and several of them were prophesied about. It is these sporadic and scattered prophecies that they have stolen and placed on J. My examination is neither absolute nor divine, it is a simple examination of the Book. Some one else could probably come up with an even better explanation. The main point of all of this is to come up with a much, much more credible understanding then what the servants of J have concluded. I suspect my examination to be more credible with the Book itself.
