Ceramics and Pottery by Troy

Hens and Chicks pot with lid Hens and Chicks: This is the first pot Troy made. He was in the 7th grade. This pot has a removable lid and several openings for the Hens and Chicks plant to grow through.

This morel mushroom box is the second pot Troy made. He was in the 9th grade Ceramics and Pottery class at Noblesville High School, under the direction of Mr. John Smith. This pot also has a removable lid and several openings through one side and geometric designs carved into the other sides. The mushroom is sculpted much like a morel.

This is a pot Troy threw on the wheel.

Troy made this as a musical instrument, similar to an ocarina. There is a hole at the top and four holes near the bottom and it plays a few notes. He made this one in his Ceramics and Pottery II class, same teacher.

This pot clearly shows the odd shapes, geometric patterns, and multiple openings Troy builds into his pots. It also demonstrates his bold use of color.

This is another example of a pot he made on the wheel.

Another thrown pot with a few stripes down the sides

Troy enjoyed building this multi-level pot with the multiple openings. Part of this one is very smooth, and part of it is built with long narrow strips of clay. He enjoys experimenting with low fire and high fire glazes and clay. Sometimes he mixes them on purpose to achieve special effects.

This is a two-color thrown pot.

Here you see a delicate white pot made on the wheel.

This is one of my favorites! Troy created an eel that is wrapping itself around two kinds of coral. The eel forms the sides of the "bowl". His eyes seem to stare at you from any angle and his mouth is open.

This is the "computer virus" that Troy built!

Trevor made this basket pot when he was in the 4th grade.
