64. Michael Risner Jr. "Mike" was born 1790 in Scott, Virginia. He died 13 Apr 1864. He married Sarah Howard 1808. [Parents]
The story is told by Robin Risner (grandson of Eli) that Old man Mike Risner came to the Meadows of the Licking and built a cabin. After he built it he returned to TN for his family. On the way back Eli was born. When they reached their cabin another man had moved in. Michael almost beat the man to death to regain possession.

This column is a report on our latest efforts to see that these patriots have markers set at their gravesites so that their descendants may visit the final resting places of their ancestor. We have plans to conduct another such service for Michael Risner and his wife, Sarah Howard, on September 27th (1997) and invite any interested persons to be in Magoffin County for that occasion.

Sunday April 19, 1953Shows a Revolutionary War Vetran lived 107 years. A group of men working under the Works Progress Administration (WPA) sponsored by the American Legion in 1940, made a careful and painstaking survey of all Richland County cemetaries in search for the graves of Revolutionary War veterans as well as other wars.
One group in the recording grave stone inscriptions in the Pleasant Grove or Steel Cemetery, west of Bellville, was startled to read one inscription indicating the advanced age of the Revolutionary War soldier buried there. It read:
"In memory of Mathias Sirk, who died Feb 1833 aged 107 years and five months."Information which they obtained from the section established that Mathias was indeed a Revolutionary War soldier, but there was no indication of the state or organization in which he served.
