About Newfoundlands
The Newfoundland is a dog
of size and substance. They
are devoted
dogs, and a breed we feel comes straight from Heaven.
However, the breed is not for everyone. Although sweet and gentle
in temperament, they are large
double-coated dogs that love to work, therefore requiring time and
energy. They
require hours of grooming and exercise,
and must be taught manners at young age.
They will grow at a very rapid pace, and can easily
hurt someone due to
the lack of training. Because
of their
great size and strength, the newfy pup that was once adorable jumping
on you,
can now injure you when he weighs over 100 pounds, if not trained
properly from
an early age. They
are excellent
companion dogs and love nothing more than to be with their family. They seem to have a
natural affection for
children and find them hard to resist.
They are a great companion for working in the water,
pulling carts, and
therapy work. Responsible
ownership is
a must for this wonderful, noble breed.
