Import/Export Outlook Data
You can use Rolladesktop to make a specially formatted backup of your Outlook® data. Obviously, this is built into Outlook®; however this can be used in conjunction with the Outlook® Data Sync feature of RAD.
EXPORT
You can export your Outlook® data to an Access® mdb file. The rules will follow the settings in Outlook® Data Sync in the preferences. An export will ask you to create an mdb file.
Criteria can be used to selectively export certain data to the mdb, called filters. These must be set in tools>preferences>outlook data sync>modify. For example you might want to export all of your school data. You can use the following:
[Categories] = ‘School’
Therefore the mdb file will only contain data where at least one category is school. This can be used for Contacts, Appointments (Tasks and Notes coming soon).
IMPORT
You can import your Outlook® data from an Access® mdb file (this file must be formatted like the exported database). The rules will follow the settings in Outlook® Data Sync in the preferences. An import will ask you to browse to an mdb file (likely created by RAD).
Criteria can be used to selectively delete certain data before importing the data from the mdb, called filters. These must be set in tools>preferences>outlook data sync>modify. For example you might have exported all of your school data previously. You can use the following to delete your old school data before importing the new ones.
[Categories] = ‘School’
A date range must be set on the Calendar.
See Outlook® data fields for a list of the available fields.
