What To Bring on a Paint-Out

 

o    Highly Recommended – oil painters

§  Pochade Box or easel

§  Painting media – paint, odorless paint thinner, medium

§  Supports - Canvas or canvas panels

§  Water Bottle

§  Paper towels

§  Small sketch book

§  Film or Digital camera (as light as possible)

§  Bug spray (spray before leaving your car and leave the bug spray in the trunk)

§  Sun block (again, put in on and leave the bottle in your trunk)
lightweight stool that's doubles as a carrying bag. (they're advertised in art magazines and catalogs)

o    Pastel painters

§  Masking tape

§  Pastels

§  Pastel paper

§  Small drawing board that fits in stool carrying bag

§  Wax paper to protect finished drawings

§  Folding Chair

§  Umbrella to shade canvas/palette

§  Snacks

§  Poncho (leave in your car if the weather report is perfectly sunny)

§  Hiking Boots

§  Holder/box to carry finished paintings

§  Huggies - Baby wipes-light-weight and makes cleaning your hands so easy.

 

Trip Planning

 

o    Car pool whenever possible to minimize the impact on painting sites.

o    When painting, stay within earshot or carry cell phones to be able to contact everyone, especially if you will leave earlier or later than others.

o    If you will be out of sight of your car, place a sign on the dashboard which plainly says “Artist at Work”.
