Note: The children listed above were listed in the Will of Thomas Ellis. Also, a Joseph Ellis witnessed the will and it is not known if he was related to Thomas Ellis.
Thomas Ellis's will as listed in Henrico County, Virginia Wills Addenda Will Book #1 1781-1787 page 68 (note; This will as well as others are wills re-recorded as "Pre-Revolutionary and Colonial Wills , Re-Recorded in Will books of Henrico County, After 1781" - originals were destroyed by the "enemy", ie , the British) is as follows:
To John Crouch, liberty to dig on my land for coal for use at his smiths's furnace for life. To son Jesse, that part of land I bought of Richard Randolph on upper side of Rocky Branch, also 2 negroes and items. To daughter Susanna Crouch, 4 negroes and items. To son Thomas, all land I bought of Col. Richard Randolph below the Great Branch, to lower end of Richard Cottrel's plantation; also two negores and items. To daughter Mary Maddox, 4 negroes and items. To son John, all the rest of my tract of land; also two negroes and items. To daughter Sally Ellis, 4 negroes. To wife Anne, 6 other negroes to dispose of as she thinks fit. Rest of estate to wife for widowhood and then divided equally among my children. Dated 16 Sept. 1771.
