James Wm Crouch 5 (Richard H. 4, William 3, John 2, Richard 1) was born October 1836; died November 6, 1904, Shelby County, Tn.; married Emma [1] "Mittie" Wilkerson, January 27, 1873, Shelby County, Tn.[3].She was born March 1842.
Joined for duty and enrolled on August 3, 186_ as a Private in Confederate Capt. J.G. Ballentine's Company C, 1st Tennessee Calvary;. Was captured on appeared on a register of Prisoners of War belonging to the Rebel Army, in custody of Provost Marshal, Memphis, Tennessee. Appears on a roll of Prisoners of War received at Military Prison, Alton, Illinois on July 7, 1863. Captured Shelby Co., TN on June 28, 1864. Transferred to Fort Delaware Feb 29, 1864. Exchanged Feb. 27, 1865. Paroled at Memphis, TN for 5 days ending June 15, 1865, by Bvt. Bg. Genl. E. Bouton, District Provost Marshal. [5]
