In collaboration with Todd E. Long (a Goochland County, VA Crouch descendant) of Longwood University in Virginia the following information on Bernard S. Crouch is presented.

[2] 1870 Fairfield Township, Henrico County, Virginia enumerated on the 10th of August 1870 - Richmond VA

Todd E. Long has correctly pointed out that the Bernard Crouch from the 1870 Fairfield Township, Henrico County, Virginia is suspect for being a record of Bernard S. Crouch, but is most likely a different Bernard Crouch given that none of the children appear on the 1880 Census and the ages for Bernard and his wife Mary are different than those recorded in the 1860 and 1880 Census records for Bernard S. Crouch. Note , I have left this census record here for reference only.

If the Addie L. Crouch is truly a niece of Bernard S. Crouch, then she has to be the daughter of either Robert Temple Crouch or Walter Crouch if he lived beyond childhood as Bernard S Crouch's brother John G. died in September 1853.

1880 Census data provided by Todd E. Long

[4] The 1850 Census Records for Bernard's father Thomas Harris Crouch were enumerated on the 11th of October 1850 and it recorded Bernard's age as 23. The 1860 and 1880 Census records for Bernard were enumerated in June of 1860 and 1880 and listed Bernard's age as 32 and 52 respectively. Based upon this, Bernard was born somewhere between July 28th and October of 1827.
