40-46 Miles
The hobbits met great danger and great joy during this leg of their journey. Hopefully, we
won't meet any Black Riders, though we'd love to spend an evening feasting with a band of High Elves!
The hobbits had supper and a rest at the beginning of this part of the journey. Keep an eye
out for the hollow tree they used for shelter while they ate. They resumed their journey as the early stars came out and sang a bit as they walked. They hadn't gone far when they
heard hooves again and hid again from a Black Rider. This time they are saved from detection by the appearance of Gildor Inglorien and his band of Elves. Frodo, Sam and
Pippin traveled with the Elves to a hill just west of Woodhall.
We would enjoy the stars and singing, the good food and good company if we met the
Elves as well! And as Gildor tells Frodo, "I name you Elf-Friend; and may the stars shine upon the end of your road!"
