The Carburetor Chronicles

Home Up Baja in the 90's The Two Mile Ride The Crash

The Two Mile Ride Report.

Ride reports ought to be about major rides.  Ride reports should be about adventure, the more epic the better.  This may be one of the shortest ride reports ever.  If the ride was short you shouldn't even bother.  Whatever,  I don't care what you think.  The end of this ride report will inspire emails of disapproval anyway so read on at your own risk.

It was about 40 degrees outside and that represented a major increase in the temperature.  I geared up and took off for about a forty five minute drive where I froze my ass off and loved every minute of PMS sucks.  No not that, PMS the other one. This form of PMS sets in for riders all occur the country outside of the southern half of the country, it stands for Parked Motorcycle Syndrome. I got to try out my new flip face helmet (a Zeus 508, see Gear section) The ride solo helped clear out some cobwebs and was the third best thing about my weekend.

The day was a pretty busy day. We were having a party for dad's retirement, 38 years at GM.  He raised five, you heard me FIVE kids.  So the day was his retirement party and my nephew's, the youngest man in the family, first ride on a motorcycle.

So this ride report is going to include pictures of my dad's party, this my ride report I decide what is important.

My nephew was in town and he has been talking about the bikes since he set eyes on them.  Time for him to take his very first ride, with my sister's permission of course.

I got my ride in hours before dad came over because there was a lot to do.

He wanted to ride the fastest one, but the R100 looks like this right now.

Much as I would like to take it for a ride I just do not think she is quite sea worthy yet.

We will have to wake up Sophie again. Such a pretty girl anyway.

INSERT R60 PICTURE

Gotta get my little nephew properly geared up.  Gloves, jacket, helmet you know the whole works.  My nephew is a California boy so he had to have all new cold weather gear for his trip out here to the flat lands.  OK, the gloves are his mittens, the coat is his outdoor coat and the only dedicated piece of gear is the helmet.

. . . .  more coming later . . . .
