We are Janet, Alan and Mathias from Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are so excited that you are reading this letter because it gives us the opportunity to share our family with you. We are blessed with our first child through an adoption, and are aware of the strength and courage you have to consider this decision. Alan and I met in graduate school in 1990, became best friends, and knew we wanted to make a lifetime commitment to one another. As we spent more time with kids through volunteer work in our local community, our desire to raise children of our own grew. We were given the opportunity to parent Mathias through an adoption almost five years ago. His birthmother has chosen not to have contact with us at this time, but we look forward to the possibility of meeting her someday. We are ready to welcome your child in to our hearts and home. Says...Alan has always known that he wanted to be a parent. In high school, he spent his summers as a camp counselor to thirteen noisy 7 year olds. The quality I most admire in Alan is his enduring patience. It never runs out, and it makes our home a very peaceful place to live. Professionally, he works as a technology specialist. His flexible schedule and home office allows him to be closer to the family during the work week. Alan
Says...Janet always brings out the best in those around her. That is what has always attracted me to her. She is full of life, and loves to seek out new activities and adventures. Before devoting herself to raising kids she was the director of a non-profit organization devoted to feeding hungry people and later managed corporate philanthropy for a large company. She loves being a stay-at-home mom and doesn't want to miss a single day with her children. |
