Anthony M. Salerno, a native of Old Forge, Pennsylvania, founded Salerno & Associates in January of 2004 to create business opportunities and assist companies with resource needs through experience and relationship referrals.
Prior to founding Salerno & Associates, Mr. Salerno was the Vice President of Operations and Corporate Planning for Saleen, Inc., a niche / exotic vehicle manufacturer & tier-one automotive supplier. In this capacity, Mr. Salerno was an integral part of the recapitalization & sale of the company in late 2003. He was also accountable for all operational activities of the company including the vehicle production lines for the $400,000 Saleen S7 and the Saleen Mustang. The fabrication, paint, & composites divisions as well as supply chain, information technology, sales and engineering support were all under his direction as well. He joined Saleen in the summer of 2002, as Vice President of Corporate Planning and Development, where he was in charge of all business development, strategic planning, corporate development and special project initiatives. In this position he was successful in securing & negotiating the contract for Saleen to build the legendary Ford GT sports car for Ford Motor Company.
Prior to joining Saleen, Mr. Salerno was the Director of Finance & Administration for Automotive Performance Industries (API), a subsidiary of Onex Corporation (TORONTO: OCX), where he provided financial support to business development, strategic planning & corporate development related activities for a $300 million marketing services, logistics and engineering division. He joined API in the spring of 2000, as Controller, where he was responsible for the financial operations of API’s seven operating companies which included three marketing agencies, three logistics companies and one engineering entity.
Prior to his employment with Onex, Mr. Salerno was the Controller of International Speedway Corporation’s (NASDAQ: ISCA) California Speedway, a position he was appointed to by Greg Penske in March of 1997 when the company was owned by Penske Motorsports (NASDAQ:SPWY). As Controller, he was responsible for all of the company’s financial and information technology operations, including managing the financial aspects of marketing, corporate sales, event operations, promotions, public relations and ticket operations. During his tenure, the company hosted the two largest sporting events in the state if California with an attendance of over 150,000. He was also a member of the organizations Director group, which was responsible for all strategic planning for the company.
Prior to joining Penske Motorsports, Mr. Salerno was a Senior Accountant for Penske Truck Leasing, which is a joint venture between Penske Corporation & General Electric Corporation (NYSE:GE), in Brea, California, where he managed the financials of the company’s largest and most profitable division.
Prior to relocating to California in July of 1996, Mr. Salerno was a Corporate Internal Auditor with Penske Truck Leasing. Based at the corporate headquarters in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was responsible for developing and performing audits on the company’s operational and financial performance, investigating fraudulent activities and conducting special projects for senior management.
Mr. Salerno’s professional career began in public accounting. He joined ParenteRandolph, in Scranton, Pennsylvania in January of 1994, where he was a Staff Accountant in the audit department. In this position, he audited, reviewed and compiled financial statements for companies in various industries including media, financial services, construction, utilities, waste management, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, education and travel.
Prior to his career in public accounting, Mr. Salerno owned and operated an auto detailing business in northeast Pennsylvania for six years.
Mr. Salerno received a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Finance and Accounting from Wilkes University located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the Motor Press Guild, the National Italian American Foundation and the Pacific Club of Newport Beach where he is a member of the Finance & Admission Committees. He resides in Newport Coast, California with his wife and two sons.
