Below Left: Modern map emphasizing area of Tigris and Euphrates Rivers through Turkey, Syria, and Iraq. Garden of Eden was probably somewhere in this area. Below Right: Jacopo Bassano's "Garden of Eden," 1570-73 AD
An article in Smithsonian Magazine (Vol 18, No 2, May 1987) suggests the Pison and Gihon Rivers can be identified from a COMSAT photo (below left), and that the Garden of Eden is the green area in the map (below right), now covered by the Persian Gulf.
Left: The "Creation of Eve," a relief panel on the bell tower of the Florence Cathedral in Florence, Italy, created by Andrea Pisano ~1336 AD.
