"Troupe Zahava!" Middle-Eastern Dance Company is based in
Springfield, Illinois. Founded in 1998 by director Karida Zahava
(Kari Dotson), performance styles include a wide variety, from
traditional Arabic group dances to modern Egyptian "bellydance" solos.
Troupe Zahava performs each summer at the Jubilee College Olde English
Faire, annually sponsors a workshop and showcase of Middle-Eastern
dance, and has appeared in other stage presentations throughout the
midwest.

--- a sisterhood in dance = a celebration of life! ---
The art of middle-eastern
dance has deep roots in history. Once a private entertainment by and
for women only and in some cultures a part of religious ritual, it has
evolved into a complex and fascinating art-form. The dance also has
marvelous health benefits and is by far the best low-impact workout for
all shapes and sizes. Today, there are thousands of dancers across the
world, with weekly seminars and shows being held in all areas of the
globe. The practitioners of the art continually strive towards the
education of themselves and the public in a venue suitable for
presentation to all ages and walks of life. We invite you to join us in
experiencing the harmony and joy of a rhythmic journey set to music in
tune with life's energy as history comes alive.
