Meikina's Room

It's finally ready! I ordered the bedding in May 2005 and four months later it finally arrived. I think Kenny was excited to get her room ready, because I didn't even have to beg him to get started. He was ready to tackle the project before I was. It was a good thing that he was so eager to get it finished because it wasn't long after that when he received his deployment orders.

This room started out as Tyler's room, then it was Andrew's room. I was a bit sentimental about taking down all of the Pooh stuff, but I managed to get it all put away. Then Kenny patched up the nail holes and taped off the woodwork and ceiling. Then he painted the room a light green color called Sassafras Tea. After he finished painting, I went to work on the vines and ladybugs. It was my first "work of art" of this kind...it's not perfect but I don't think Meikina will mind.

Scroll down to see the finished room. Well, almost finished. We just need Meikina here to make it complete.

This is the room how it was for Tyler and Andrew.

All of the Pooh stuff is gone and Kenny is painting the ceiling.

The ceiling and walls are painted and I've started on the vines and ladybugs. The "thing" hanging down from the top is a ladybug fan pull hanging from the ceiling fan. I'll post better pics after the room is finished.

Finally! Here are some pictures of her room now that it is finished. Well, almost...just one more very important element to add...MEIKINA!

I've added a little bit of Chinese art too. The piece hanging over the chest is silk embroidery work. The round one hanging from the ceiling is a Chinese parasol decoration.

A quiet corner for rocking my daughter to sleep...

...some books to read...
