A brief introduction. I am currently a senior at the University of Louisville, majoring in communications. I am a freelance writer for LEO, the Louisville Eccentric Observer, an alt-weekly featuring arts and entertainment, and The Lane Report, a business magazine based in Lexington.
In May 2005, I had the honor of attending the Associated Press' Diverse Visions/Diverse Voices program for college students. I spent a week in Seattle working with an AP mentor, along with a photographer team consisting of a college photojournalist and an AP photographer. We spent three days working on a feature story that the program assigned us, developing a feature story and photo package.
I have been a working journalist since age 16, when I began writing for my community paper. My experience includes all aspects of two weeklies — including writing, photography, layout and production. I also wrote several articles for the premier edition of a magazine.I enjoy both news reporting and feature writing, and am continuously trying to develop my skills at writing both.
