Multi Screen Game & Watch
Blackjack
Blackjack here was the only gambling Game & Watch Nintendo made and if you are
a gambling fanatic, or just like playing 21(Blackjack) it's a great little
title that should last you a long time. If you are not the gambling type, and
not a collector pass on it. Personally I think Nintendo should have made a few
more gambling games like Poker or something. Nintendo started on gambling over
a 110 years ago with Hanafuda playing cards it would have made sense to me,
and they still make gambling equipment today.
Bombsweeper
Here is one of the better Game & Watch titles in existance, and also one of
the titles I own as well, which is Bombsweeper. In this split level game you
play the role of John Solver, police bomb squad defuser who has to attempt to
defuse the Mad Bomber Jack's bombs inside of the building. But, you must be
careful because if you don't defuse the bomb in time, it will defuse YOU!
Both game modes A and B are different just enough to make either worth playing
over again. This game vaguely has an Adventure of Lolo feeling to it.
Donkey Kong
Here we have Donkey Kong, this along with Donkey Kong Jr. were my first two
Game & Watch's, and I'd have to say Donkey Kong along with Super Mario Bros.
(another I have) are my favorites of the bunch. Anyways, in this version of
Donkey Kong the difficulty has been jacked up a bit. As you can see from the
picture above it's split over to screens. On the bottom you just avoided
barrels as usual, but also you could only jump where there were no girders
above you(later there will be moving ones to kill you too). Above you had to
avoid a parade of barrels while trying to flip on the crane. You then run
over and jump at the right time to catch the hook to fly up and unlatch one of
the triggers holding Donkey Kong above. This is one hard game, and gets even
harder with the added things coming at you with more speed. I recommend this
one above many others as something to maybe start a collection with, or to get
if you don't have it yet. This game was featured as the big find inside of
the Gameboy Color game Game & Watch Gallery 2.
Donkey Kong II
Here is the continuation of sorts from the first Donkey Kong handheld. In
this quest you have to watch out for birds, clap traps, and other deadly stuff
the journey to save Donkey Kong with the assistance of Donkey Kong Jr. from
Mario. This game is based off the final section in Donkey Kong Jr. arcade as
you have to move all the keys up the chains back to their starting point to
open the cage and free Donkey Kong. If you loved that level in the arcade
then you have to get this Game & Watch. This game was also featured as a hard
to get secret game in Game & Watch Gallery 3 for Gameboy Color.
Goldcliff
The first of the Game & Watch's with a continue feature, good thing too
because you'll need it to tolerate it. The game isn't too fun as it's a basic
watch for vanishing platform game where you collect keys and treasure. Some
say it's superior to Super Mario Bros., BS it is not. You can't save in Super
Mario Bros though, but it was a lot more fun jumping, attacking, and dogding
things like hammers, fire and the rest. Pass on this and get Super Mario Bros.
unless you are a big collector.
Greenhouse
A game along the lines of Donkey Kong III because you have to in this split
level game shoot bugspray at approaching worms making a move on some vines
toward your flowers, and once they're all gone so are you. Come to think of
it this would be the perfect companion to Donkey Kong III G&W since DK3 did
the bug levels better, and this one suits the level with the bugs on vines.
This game was also a featured title on Game & Watch Gallery 3 for Gameboy
Color.
Lifeboat
Quick the ship is on fire and going down. Use your two liferafts (one in Game
B) to catch all the people bailing out, but beware because when you miss they
are shark bait. This game feels somewhat like a combination between both Fire
and Parachute.
Mario Bros.
A pretty simplistic fold out game in which Mario on the right passes stuff to
Luigi on the left to load into their large truck on the top left part of the
screen. The more stuff you load onto the truck the more points you get, you
also get points for successful hand-offs on the various levels. Overall a
pretty so-so game that might keep you busy for awhile. This interesting game
was included on Game & Watch Gallery 3 for Gameboy Color.
Mickey & Donald
Loosely based on the old Disney cartoon in which Mickey, Donald, and Goofy
fought fires. In this Game & Watch Mickey controls the water flow, and Donald
covers the fire in water, while like in the cartoon Goofy does nothing. It's
an ok game overall, but should be a blast for Disney fans.
Oil Panic
Quick the roof is leaking oil? Yup, and your job is to catch it in a pail on
the top screen, then pour it out the window to your friend below with the pail
who pops in and out of a window on the right or left side. If you slip up
here you'll surely get greased (pun intended). This title was included as one
of the standard games on the original Game & Watch Gallery for Super Gameboy.
Pinball
An excellent fast paced lcd pinball game for your Nintendo Game & Watch. In
Pinball Game A gives you are given just three balls to get as many points as
you possibly can rack up. But in Game B you get one, it's sort of a kamakazi
mode, but then an extra multi-ball(up to 3) becomes active for every 30,000
points. Very addictive!
Rainshower
A hard game that takes coordination and timing. In this game you must get all
the wash in(yes clothes) before it starts to rain. Sounds simple? It's not
because you'll have to dodge crows trying to stop your efforts.
Safebuster
As a cop it's your job to protect a safe from a mad bomber. Three bombs will
get dropped, and you can hold three, so drop them in the one open areas after
you have them. This causes torches to rise, and at the top they light all the
bombs and blow up the mad bomber to give you points. This is a pretty
interesting game that should keep you playing, and it reminds me of Mario's
Bombs Away due to the use of explosives.
Squish
In this game versions A and B were quite different. In Game A it was a bit on
the boring side as you just move walls around and try not to get squished. In
Game B though is where the fun was because you had to move around like crazy
trying to stop aliens from respawning.
Zelda
The second to the last of the Game & Watch series, and amazingly one of the
best of them made. In this adventure you playing as Link have to collect the
many pieces of the Triforce in an effort to thwart Gannon and save Princess
Zelda (just like on the NES). In this game you will see many familiar items,
but you will see some new things as well such as the tomahawk weapon. I've
not heard this one in action but I am told that is highly addictive, has a
decent challenge, and has a good musical score as well.
If you are willing to part with one of these, as long as the screen isn't
scratched up, the buttons work, and the battery cover is still there please
drop me and email. Please be realistic with the asking value as I know the
unit is only worth $30-$40USD.
