Welcome to the Game & Watch Panorama. This page has been developed to show
old fans and new much information about the the Game & Watch line of hand held
units and related information. The Game & Watch was created by Gunpei Yokoi
for Nintendo back at the beginning of the 1980s. This page is dedicated to
Gunpei Yokoi (1941-1997) the creator of not only the Game & Watch series, but
also the world famous Gameboy (including Gameboy Pocket and Gameboy Color)
which to date is the highest selling gaming platform worldwide with over 100
Million units sold as of May 2000. Gunpei Yokoi was also the creator of
Nintendo's first, and short lived 3D system the Virtual Boy. Your creativity
and design will be missed by the handheld community.

Basically this is just a small annoucement and a mention of a small change
on the site. Yes this page will still be updated when I find the time and
new information or pictures, and I love the emails I get from you so far.
I currently have only 6 Game & Watch units and they are not for sale, but
thanks for the interest in purchases of units I have or not. I currently
have for the record: Balloon Fight (WS), Bombsweeper (Multi), Donkey Kong
(Multi), Donkey Kong Jr (WS), Mario Cement Factory (WS), and Super Mario
Bros (WS). The minor change to the site is quite obvious that I moved my
email and links to the top of the page for ease and added a self created
PayPal donation box. The reason for this is twofold in that I have been
out of work since mid-December and due to the fact the hosting has changed.
As a result I'd like to try and keep popups and additional banners off this
site as quite frankly I find them offensive. If you have a PayPal account
(which are free to create) you can if you like the site throw a few pennies
my way so I can keep this alive in its current form. As always it is nice
to serve the Game & Watch community and if you have new information or
places I can get better/new scans of things they are appreciated.
Been quite awhile hasn't it? Well thanks to Maurice in the Netherlands I have
a small picture update here on the site. This kind reader has scanned his
Super Mario Bros. 3 Game Watch for the site. Before there was a very poor
image in which you could not make out what the game looked like. Thanks to
him we have a nice shot now which you can find in the Game Watch section.
Still nothing much new at all to add here but I did a little under the hood
work. Recently I picked up a copy of the recently released Adobe Photoshop
5.5. Since this program doesn't suck like my four year old Paint Shop Pro 4.1
things should look a lot better here. I have re-saved every last image from
the page and attempted to clear up many of them which was greatly successful.
As an added payoff I shaved quite a few KB off each image so the page will
noticably by just a bit load a little faster for those who use 33.6 or less
connections. Also I would like to thank 'DDicc@aol.com' (no name given) for
some nice images of all the MINI classics that were released in Europe and for
the most part the U.S. and Australia. Sadly I already had very large and
mostly clear images online in the Game & Watch Related Stuff section so I
could not use them. I welcome all submissions from people (and no offense to
the above) but please make sure you do submit something new or of a noticeable
clarity increase of the image(s). Thanks again for your continued support.
Not much to say so far as I have found nothing of interest or emails this week
to put something up for you to see. The real reason I am posting is to let
you know I added a gateway to the site as I got a domain for the page called:
www.gameandwatchpanorama.com which I regged with namezero. I had no idea they
used a lame banner that eats up 20% of the screen so the gateway is used to
block it from appearing on the site (Smart no? Thanks to Akishra for that.)
Finally later in the week comes and update, and while not large it is just as
significant to anyone who cares, and you must if you have read this much
already. I have not received any new information from anyone sadly so all
that is up as of the 15th is from me. If you have any Game & Watch related
information you would like to share and/or pictures please let me know and I
can add it. If you know of some new simulator, PalmOS/PalmPC simulated G&W
units, or anything else drop me a line I'd love to add it into that corner of
the page. So far though this week here is what has been added online:
History:
Ten years ago Gunpei Yokoi's dream of a portable gaming unit for his company
Nintendo of Japan, Co. Ltd. was realized in the release of "Ball" on
April 28, 1980. Since that time a multitude of much more advanced and styles
of Game & Watch were released around the world which came to and end in
September of 1991 with "Mario the Juggler" which ironically was
"Ball" but with Mario and items from his world in the game. From the
time toward the end of the line of games and from its ashes also came a small
line of great Game Watches you could wear around town and have some fun with.
Recently though thanks to the people at Nintendo in the last few years they
have been re-releasing the old Game & Watch classics on the Gameboy and also
Gameboy Color. So far with three volumes in existance players can play a few
dozen of their old favorites along side of modernized versions as well.
As these lesser remembered Nintendo handhelds deserve its place in history here you may take a look at many of the old classics, learn a little about their abilities, and maybe a bit more. The Game & Watch handhelds came in many different models known as: Wide Screen, Crystal Screen, Micro Vs., Silver & Gold, Multi Screen, Super Color, and finally Tabletop and Panorama units. As I am sure you are aware of in the frame you see these also listed. Click on the style of Game & Watch you wish to learn more about.
Questions & Comments:
If you have any questions or comments they probably can be answered if you
click on the email link at the bottom of the frame. By the way the author is
looking for a Zelda, Balloon Fight(widescreen), and Donkey Kong II unit that
must have the battery cover included. If you are willing to sell, name your
price, but be reasonable you won't be getting $50-too much as other online
places pull as I'm just not that rich of naive.
