LaCie photon20visionII (two for dual display) Good photo editing needs a good monitor. Replaced by the superior LaCie 320. I use dual display, so the work image is on one screen, and the menus and toolboxes are on the other. |

DXO Optics Pro Absolutely mandatory. No excuses! DXO is crazy effective in repairing vingetting (dark corners), barreling, light falloff, chromatic aberration (color fringes), and soft corners (nonlinear focus). DXO also automatically fixes contrast and lighting, better than I can do with Photoshop. DO Labs measures each lens at every zoom setting, focal distance, and aperture to create a precise computer model to apply the corrections. |

Adobe Photoshop Required for any serious amateur photographer. |
|
Breeze Browser Great for sorting pictures. Has HTML engine to generate image gallery pages (such as mine). |
|
Neat Image Noise correction for high ISO images. I use Neat Image on pictures taken at ISO 800 and higher. Neat Image is calibrated for certain cameras (D70 included) or scanners, or you can create your own calibrations for individual shots. |
