Most Stanton Group training is custom designed to fit client needs. We use a modular approach that permits us to reuse material in new combinations. This helps us to provide custom material at "off-the-shelf" cost. Custom training design and delivery is billed at regular consulting rates. This approach helps to ensure seamless integration of training and project intervention work.
Here is a cross-section of Stanton Group course offerings:
Leading Organizational Change - Change programs seem to come at area managers from all directions, for many reasons, and at various levels of preparation. This is especially true in the current era. However good or bad the planning has been, the area manager is usually responsible for "making it happen."
Well-designed and executed change programs will still be hard work, but they should also be enjoyable, resulting in a workplace that is better suited both to the work being done and to the people who spend their work lives there.
"Leading Organizational Change" is designed to help area managers assess and develop their groups' readiness for change, and to support quality change planning. The material is covered in six full day sessions consisting of class time in the morning and hands-on practice in the afternoon. Topics covered include the following:; The Nature and Reality of Change; Behavioral Styles During Change; Leadership; Communication, Involvement, and Empowerment; Organizational Culture; Maintaining a Balanced Life During "White Water" Change
Like all Stanton Group courses, Leading Change does more than just expose staff to current thinking on change issues. It is designed to create important work life changes in every active participant.
Managing Personal and Professional Transitions - This course is designed to help the workers in a changing environment. It is about surviving and growing through change, where "Leading Organizational Change" is about designing and managing change. Topics covered include the following:; The Nature of Change; Personal Styles and Change; Organizational Culture; Maintaining Personal Balance in a Changing Environment; Constructive Ways to Deal With Fear, Anger, and Conflict
Much of the material in this course is shared with the "Leading Organizational Change" course, but it is taught at a more practical, less analytical level. The course consists of two full-day sessions, usually a month apart. Each day includes a variety of lectures, discussions, simulations, and other hands-on training situations. Spaced repetition of key concepts allows each person time to reflect on subject material and to filter it through his or her own experiences.
Follow-up support is available and recommended for class graduates.
Gender Diversity: Your Competitive Advantage - Diversity in race, religion, and lifestyle is taking its rightful place in the private and governmental work force. No form of diversity is more pervasive or less well understood than gender diversity. This course is designed to help managers and workers harness diversity as an organizational strength, freeing it to help with MOBIS objectives.
Properly addressed, gender work style diversity lends richness to the work environment, enhancing organizational capability. But some organizations suffer unnecessary clashes and unproductive withdrawal of personnel due to gender friction. Others tend to inadvertently block the growth of female (or male) employees, creating the "glass ceiling" effect that is so widely discussed. These problems ultimately lead to missed opportunities for the organization, for customers, and for employees.
This course is presented by a mixed-gender team. During this full-day session, class participants will cover the following topics:; The Competitive Advantage of a Diverse Work Force in Today's Society; Personal Work Style Assessment; The Relationship of Personal Work Styles to Gender; The Complementary Nature of Diverse Work Styles; Male and Female Problem Solving and Communication Styles; Personal Improvement Goals; Organizational Sabotage of Female Staff and Leaders; Research Findings; Self-derailment Due to Poor Diversity Management; Organizational Growth Through Specific Gender-Related Behaviors and Practices; Development and Practice of Dialog Communication Styles that Enhance Interpersonal Listening (Carefully listening to the speaker and processing one's own reactions prior to responding)
Critical Path Project Management - This two-day course combines the basics of team-based project management with technical grounding in the use of whatever Critical Path Method (CPM) software the organization prefers. Our "vanilla" offering is Microsoft Project, but we have taught this course using several other packages. Either course section is available individually.
Project management topics covered include setting and negotiating project objectives, setting project scope, project team design, project team leadership, design of tasks and subtasks, obtaining subtask estimates, project design, and project reporting. CPM topics include CPM basics, manual forward and backward computations, CPM software orientation, example project design and programming.
Training Support Products - We typically produce our own course booklets, handouts, overhead slides, etc. and charge for these at our cost. If very high quantities of course materials are needed, we will arrange for third party production, and bill for these at cost.
