Family
Reflections
by
Steve J. Reeder
When
I reflect on my family I think of love,
I
think of caring and I think of support.
When
I reflect on my family I think of fun,
I
think of laughter and I think of joy.
When
I reflect on my family I think of
my
wife, and I think of my kids.
When
I reflect on my family I think of
Mom,
and I think of Dad.
When
I reflect on my family I think of
brothers
and I think of sisters. When
I reflect on my family, I think of the
many
who have shared their love with me.
Now
that I am older my reflection goes
farther.
I think of those in my family
that
fought much harder. I think of how
they
struggled in such difficult times.
I
think of my ancestors in a new and
different
way. I appreciate them more with
each
passing day. Some I barely knew and
some
I never knew, yet in my past they are.
How
fortunate I am to have had family
who
fought so I could be free, family
who
loved me so I could love and
family
around me to share that love.
To
all of my family, both past and present,
I
could never fully express the gratitude I have
for
you. So I say to you the words that
mean
the
most to me, thank you and I love
you.
