Desire, betrayal, love and love lost are the
emotional threads brilliantly woven together in David Hare's new play, which was hailed by
The New York Times as "absolutely splendid."
On a bitter winter night in London, Kyra Hollis gets an unexpected visit from the man
she once loved. Tom Sergeant, a wealthy restaurateur, had been Kyra's boss and her married
lover. But his wife, Alice, had also been Kyra's best friend. When Alice discovered their
affair, Kyra disappeared from their lives. Now, three years later, Alice is dead and Tom
longs to be reunited with Kyra.
The former lovers cannot easily pick up the pieces. While the sexual chemistry remains,
a volatile mix of hurt, anger and resentment erupts. Can the two lovers bridge their
differences or is the gulf between them impassable?
Filled with raw power, sizzling passion and heart-wrenching drama, Skylight
offers an unforgettable portrait of a sharply contrasted couple trying to reconcile their
confused desires within and beyond their shared past.
