By Eugene Ionesco
Directed by P. Gregory Springer

Will Ridenour and Janice Rothbaum
appear as The Old Man and The Old Woman in a new production of Eugene
Ionesco's classic farce, The Chairs.
"What's so funny? Why are people laughing with such childlike
happiness, leaving (the theatre in) a sea of smiles?"
-- Ben Brantley, The New York Times, April 2, 1998
Eugene Ionesco's The Chairs was written in 1952, and was somewhat eclipsed that same year by Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot. But in 1998, the play was rediscovered, re-imagined, and revived anew with the humor and quirky pathos in its tale of two survivors, adrift in a world of their own commingled memory and imagination. This premiere production follows its characters as they await for the great Orator to bring them the message of life's elusive meaning.
November 9-18.
Performances Wednesday through Sunday, 8 p.m.
