In Greek Mythology, a woman named Galenthias (or Galenthis) was turned into a cat by Hecate and became a priestess at Her Temple. From that time forwards, cats, and especially black cats were considered sacred to the Dark Mother. Today, this spiritual connection with cats and ultimately with the Lady Herself has been forgotten by most people and this clever, mystical animal is often subjected to unbelievable neglect, torture and cruelty.
