Woven Clovers

She wove clover
            stem by stem
He watched on
gift of shelter from a tree
Black guards
one on each side of her
She laughed
giving each a wreath of clover
His eyes of dark brown
            gaze never surrender
She begins again
            woven chain of clover
The dogs at play
            black knight
He walk behind her
            clovers taken from her hand
Too small for any neck
            he knots the ends
A circlet of clover
            placed upon her head
A crown of clover
            smiles a smile of life
He turns away
            scoops something unseen
A tiny violet from his hand to hers
a blush of deep red she wears
He takes her hand

         pulls her close
A hug to shelter her
            Black guards watch on
