James Purkhiser

Jim in 2009

Enlisted in the US Army in Jun 60 and served tours with the 8 Inf Div in Germany, 1 Inf Div in Vietnam, and 2 Inf Div in Korea. Retired in Oct 80 as a Master Sergeant. From 81 through 87 worked as a Detective for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service with duty stations in Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe, Germany. In late 87 switched to the Civil Service as an Army Civilian and assigned as a Military Training Technician with 1PERSCOM at Frankfurt and Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany. In Oct 04, as a result of the return of Rhein-Main AB to German control, reassigned to the US at FT Jackson, SC. Current (and final) assignment is with TRADOC’s Basic Combat Training Center of Excellence. Two sons, Frank who lives in Luzern, Switzerland + granddaughter Chantal and David who lives in Birkenfeld, Germany.
