Information about the Office of Resident Circuit Judge
Knox County is in the 9th Judicial Circuit. Each County in the Circuit is entitled to have one resident Judge. Circuit Judges are elected for a term of 6 years. They may thereafter apply for retention and must obtain 60% of the vote to be retained. Circuit Judges must be licensed attorneys and reside in the county in which they are seeking office.

My Qualifications
After graduating from Abingdon High School I attended Carl Sandburg College for one year. I then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Military Intelligence as a Mandarin Chinese linguist and translator. After an Honorable Discharge, I graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in East Asian Studies. This was followed by graduate school in the People's Republic of China at Beijing University.

I attended the University of Illinois College of Law and graduated in 1993. I was admitted to the Bar of Washington State and practiced law there for 3 years before returning to Knox County. I have owned and operated my own practice for 10 years.

My legal practice has concentrated in personal bankruptcy and representing indigent persons charged with criminal offenses.

Being a Judge is more than just interpreting the law. It is shaping citizenship through personal example and through involvement in the community. I have been very active in the community and in my children's education and activities. Consider how I have conducted myself as an individual and as a father when you are evaluating my character and fitness to serve as your Judge in Knox County.

You do NOT have to be a registered Democrat to vote in the Democrat Primary. Simply go to the polls and ask for a Democrat ballot. This is going to be a very close election and every vote will count! Please remember...

Your Vote Does Matter!
