Roulette

“Life should be as easy as hitting bull’s-eyes.”

Marksmanship is only one skill that makes Roulette who she is, being a good student of life is another.  She has weathered many a battle, and that experience has lead her to realize what an advantage many Decepticons have in their flight capability.  To this end Roulette began researching various technologies that would give her a similar advantage to level the playing field.  When she came across the Pretender process, several points struck her.  The fact of having, not one, but two bodies in a battle intrigued her.  However, she did not like the idea of being cooped up inside a Pretender shell, nor did she want to have to baby-sit a shell when she was out of it.  Then, a thought occurred to her.  She piled into Wheeljack’s lab with several plans, and basically badgered Wheeljack into helping her construct her project.

“Construct for me a bird of prey that will obey me, but also have an independent mind of its own.  Further make it be able to merge with me so that I might fly.”  Roulette got what she wanted.  Whatever the bird sees, she sees.  Whatever it feels, so does she.  This has gotten her into trouble, however, because when the bird is injured in battle that pain is also carried across their mental link (sometimes almost to the point of paralysis).  But the rewards have far outweighed the boondoggles.  When Roulette merges with Featherjet (she named the bird, even though it has no spark), one tactic of hers is to fly behind enemy lines, then send Featherjet ahead of her bombarding targets with dual ion cannons resident in the avian’s eyes.  Tail-guns mounted on the bird’s rear prevent the possibility of a flanking attack.  Also, Featherjet is immune to any pain that Roulette may feel (since he does not have a spark).  This (plus the “artificial” intelligence that Wheeljack endowed the bird with) allows him to defend Roulette if she is injured.

Sometimes Roulette’s thoughts turn to depression when thinking about her sister Shadow Striker (she refuses to call her by her new name Shadow Burn).  It is in times like these that she has come across an unexpected friend by the name of Road Rage.  Even though, they both have very little in common Road Rage seems to be able to get into Roulette’s head, and make her relax…. And periodically forces her to go on “girls’ night out” outings.
