Lake Bonaventure, Calgary |
|
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada...Lake Bonaventure Weather: Sunshine, light wind, -23C (-9.4 F, I'm just that crazy) Aircraft: Modified Slow Stick, Phoenix 35, AXI2808/24, 3S1P Apogee 2480 Camera: Canon S70 Description: The shot itself was taken off the frozen surface of Lake Bonaventure, which is a private lake here in Calgary. It snowed pretty heavily last night, but thankfully one of my neighbours had cleared a tiny path in the snow that let me take off. The flight itself lasted precisely one circuit, in which time I took a couple of strings of shots in landscape burst mode. Oh, this was also my first flight with my new S70, and I was impressed with the number of useable photos. Even the ones taken with the motor on were just a tiny bit blurred, which is an incredible improvement over my blip cam (not a bad little camera in itself). Landing required touching down on the tiny strip and flopping into the snow at the end (no way I could hit that strip and stop in time). Then I got to run home down the path and break out the compressed air to clear the snow out of the camera. Nuts I tell you. This shot shows one of my neighbours houses, which was completed earlier this year. He's a house builder, so believe me, it looks just as nice on the inside. |
