The trio -- singer/guitarist Rob Fetters, singer/bassist Bob Nyswonger, singer/drummer Chris Arduser -- are set for shows at the Canal Street Tavern in Dayton on Wednesday, and on Friday they'll be at the Southgate House in Newport with special guests Appalachian Cancer (both shows are non-smoking events). Though the 'dots only come out for spot shows (they also performed at the "Sound Off for Kerry" benefit before the presidential election), the members have been active on various other musical fronts. The new album by The Bears (which is the psychodots plus guitar genius Adrian Belew) is one song short of being completed, according to Arduser. "The whole process has been much looser than previous efforts and, therefore, is coming together rather quickly," Arduser adds. "As usual, everyone has contributed several tunes and we're all excited by the material." The group plans to do more touring after the release. Arduser is working on a solo CD, The Celebrity Motorcade, a concept album revolving around old Hollywood characters like Fatty Arbuckle, Irving Thalberg and Erich Von Stroheim and the price of fame (another Graveblankets disc is also in development). Arduser has also been busy producing the instrumental guitar album by George Cunningham, his bandmate in the Graveblankets, which he says he's hopeful will be out before Christmas, while Nyswonger produced and engineered Scorpio Moon, the recent album by local singer/songwriter Ruthie Allen Lincoln. ++ psychodots ++ Date: Wed, 24 Nov 2004 09:18:38 -0500 From: Mary Bosken Subject: City Beat Staff Pick FYI, on City Beat's mainpage today, the 'dots Canal show is listed. Cincinnati Post November 24, 2004 http://www.cincypost.com/2004/11/18/bird111804.html Lots of parties planned before turkey's cooked by Rick Bird The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is historically the biggest club-hopping party night of the year. It rivals New Year's Eve, according to many club owners. As usual, there are plenty of special gigs, reunions, and happenings on the music scene. Here's a partial list of some highlights for your Thanksgiving eve party planning: It's a Bluebirds reunion of the band's original lineup Wednesday at Allyn's Cafe, Columbia Tusculum, as regular members Marcos Sastre and Don Ahren are joined by Charlie Fletcher and Bam Powell, who formed the blues rock outfit in the early '90s. "We're going to play songs we used to do that people haven't heard in years. And we are going to play some new originals as well," Sastre said. "In rehearsals, what we realized about the band is how great that vocal blend is with the three of us.
