Hey there, Just thought I'd respond to the mention in CityBeat, referring to the Arches Boogie Piano Stage at the Queen City Blues Festival as "Ricky Nye's piano stage"...that stage, which has been presenting outstanding blues & boogie woogie pianists from the U.S. & Europe since '95, is the baby of Drs. Phil Leming & Phil Cody- they're the benefactors, they book the talent (anywhere from 10 to 14 pianists in one day!), etc.- I'm just thrilled as hell to be a part of the annual lineup (since '96)- on the other hand, I DO put on my own annual show, entitled the "Blues & Boogie Piano Summit"- myself and three other pianists...the Sixth Edition will be on Saturday, October 9th at Xavier University's Gallagher Center (moving from the Southgate House for something a little different). I may have not traveled down this musical path if not for the Arches Stage- it put me in friendships with outstanding inspirational piano pickers from all over, which has led to performances in Europe a few times a year...so props to Drs. Leming & Cody, you dig? Psychotically yours, Ricky N. ;^) ++ psychodots ++ Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2004 11:04:39 -0400 From: Mary Bosken Subject: Tickled Pink The latest Tickled Pink update, from Scott Covrett: Yo and Howdy, Fans of TICKLED PINK will be pleased to know the band will be playing at: THE COMET(hamilton ave - northside), FRIDAY APRIL 9th. Ricky Nye, Buster Hooten, Wilder Lane and other special guests are slated to appear. Showtime is 6 p.m. (themadfrog.net) ________________________ Cincinnati Post April 15, 2004 Below is an excerpt, for the entire column go to: http://www.cincypost.com/2004/04/15/bird041504.html The Word, by Rick Bird Corry's lives: Blues is once again returning on a monthly basis to the venue that was once known as Cory's. The club at McMillan and Vine is now the Mad Frog, but in the early '90s the intimate listening room in the front of the club became a haven for a new generation to discover the Queen City's blues legends, such as Pigmeat Jarrett, Joe Duskin and H Bomb Ferguson. Now blues musician Pete Weast has been booking monthly Sunday shows in the space. Performing at 7 p.m. Sunday is Ricky Nye, Buster Hooten and Weast's Wilder Lane ($5). The next "Cory's" blues jam will be May 16 with acts still to be confirmed. Weast hopes to record some of the acts for a possible compilation disc. "There was so much magic performed in there," Weast said. "The room's got great acoustics." Also on the blues scene, Sweet Alice Hoskins holds what has become her annual birthday party performance Saturday at Mr. Pitiful's, Main Street, Over-the-Rhine. ++ psychodots ++ End of Psycho Depot 381 Apr 16, 2004 Comments, suggestions, postings, and administrative or the switch between digest and daily versions of the Depot (or be on both!): Mike Brown depot @ psychodots.com To order psychodot merchandise: contact Stan Hertzman of Umbrella Artists and Strugglebaby Records shertzman@cinci.rr.com 513 871-1500 Voice 513 871-1510 Fax and Hal Bernard Enterprises, Inc., 2612 Erie Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45208 For back issues (2 ways): Email: Tony Nowikowski tony@nowikowski.com or Web Site: http://home.insightbb.com/~p-dots/ Check out the psychodot Home Page at: http://www.psychodots.com Check out the graveblankets Home Page at: http://graveblankets.com Check out the Bears Home Page at: http://www.thebearsmusic.com Check out the Ricky Nye Home Page at: http://www.rickynye.com
