It's been years since I've been in the loop with these guys. God, I remember being "bear"ly old enough to get into bars to see these guys play. I used to follow them around all the time. (Shipley's, Bogart's, Cincinnati Zoo!). I still have ticket stubs from some of the early shows. They were one of my great inspirations (and let's not leave out) and greatest excuse to go to the bars! I was listening to King Crimson, and Frank Zappa when I was probably 13 or 14 years old. I remember when I first saw Adrien play at Shipley's in Clifton. He was one of the most awesome musicians I had ever heard. And the crushes I had on these guys! Bam was my secret love!lol. We had all went to a beach party in Clifton on night. I think Sloppy Clay and King Only were the hosts. Do any of you guys remember them? The party was in the dead of winter. The heat in the house was like 100 degrees and the bathtub was full of sand! Anyway, great website. I do have a few of the albums, but not all. In 1983, little WOXY-FM in Oxford became known as 97X The Future of Rock and Roll, and the radio waves around Cincinnati and Dayton were never the same. In the 20 years since, we've brought you some of the best new Alternative, indie and Modern Rock. We're a little stunned ourselves to announce the sale of WOXY to First Broadcasting Investment Partners of Dallas. The FCC approval process takes about three months, so the switch should occur sometime around May 1st. So that's a big change... But! Our plans are to continue 97X The Future of Rock and Roll right here at woxy.com, including our internet broadcast. Over the next 90 days we'll be looking for sponsors or investors who will enable us to make this site and stream better than ever. We may be the first terrestrial radio station ever to make the full-time jump to the Internet! Obviously our Tri-State area listeners will need to make the jump to the Internet with us. Moving away from our over-the-airwaves broadcast will be a little weird for us, too. 97X has brought us overwhelming joy - along with a fair share of tough times - but we're glad the soul and ethos of 97X will still live on. Even though this is not really farewell, we want to say thank you from our hearts to you our listeners, without whom, obviously, there would have been no 20+ years. It has been our honor and privilege. What a long strange trip it's been. We are also deeply grateful to the loyal advertisers who have steadfastly supported 97X and The Music. See you in the Future. Doug, Linda, Bake, Susan, Mike, Sledge, Barb, Shiv, Kathie, Phil, Jennifer, Bryan Jay and the entire 97X Family Corporate Radio Sucks! ++ psychodots ++ Date: 29 Jan 2004 17:24:49 PST From: "Anil Prasad" Subject: RE: Psycho Update: Bears/Belew Double DVD Giveaway That was fast. Monday, 2/2, our weekly Tink's affair will feature special guest Ted Karras on guitar; we play from 6:30-9pm. Tuesday 2/3, our "First Tuesday" series continues at the Vineyard Cafe Wine Room in Hyde Park Square, 7:30-11pm. Gypsy swagger, new songs, galoshes, caution to the wind, that kind of thing. Hope to see you with your Gypsy Jazz Freak On. I guess. Okay, Cunningham ++ psychodots ++ Date: Sun, 1 Feb 2004 21:54:48 -0500 From: Jeffrey A Burroway Subject: BEARS: DVD news Saw this posted to http://thebearsmusic.com: Due to technical difficulties, the aforementioned copies of the new Bears DVD never made it to the Bears for review. This doesn't mean it won't happen - it just means there will be another slight delay. We do have the artwork though. (Courtesy Club Cafe). Once the Bears approve the DVD - which we're sure they will, the "go-ahead" to produce mass quantities will be set in motion and soon thereafter, the discs will be in the shaky and hungry hands of the fans. ++ psychodots ++ End of Psycho Depot 376 Feb 2, 2004 Comments, suggestions, postings, and administrative or the switch between digest and daily versions of the Depot (or be on both!): Mike Brown depot @ psychodots.com To order psychodot merchandise: contact Stan Hertzman of Umbrella Artists and Strugglebaby Records shertzman@cinci.rr.com 513 871-1500 Voice 513 871-1510 Fax and Hal Bernard Enterprises, Inc., 2612 Erie Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45208 For back issues (2 ways): Email: Tony Nowikowski tony@nowikowski.com or Web Site: http://home.insightbb.com/~p-dots/ Check out the psychodot Home Page at: http://www.psychodots.com Check out the graveblankets Home Page at: http://graveblankets.com Check out the Bears Home Page at: http://www.thebearsmusic.com Check out the Ricky Nye Home Page at: http://www.rickynye.com
