What is Foreign Offshoring? It is a mechanism by which jobs previously performed by American workers on American soil, are sent overseas where labor is cheaper. Why is it cheaper? Because foreign countries don't have the same protections, and the employees can be subjected to terrible, sometimes inhuman conditions, working for slave wages.
It is my personal philosophy that a business that starts in the United States, becomes successful in the United States, and wants to do business with others in the United States, should employ legal citizens of the United States. There is no legitimate reason to outsource if a company is profitable and many of the companies that are outsourcing today, are making a profit BEFORE they outsource. They outsource to needlessly increase that profit. How much money is enough? I'm afraid it's never enough.
Every job sent overseas creates another unemployed American, removes money from the U.S. economy, and reduces the tax base. It is estimated that in excess of 3,000,000 jobs will be exported within the next 10 years. Many of these are high paying technology jobs. Consider this; many of these jobs would pay an American worker in excess of $50,000 annually, so a decade from now, $150,000,000,000 per year will be removed from the U.S. economy. Phonetically, that spells one hundred fifty billion dollars... every year, and that number will only increase over time.
I just received notice that the 3 million job estimate came from a report that was prepared by corporations involved in the process, and that a report generated by an unbiased independent agency has just been released. I will post the citation as soon as it is delivered to me but that new report states that the number of jobs due to be exported is actually 14,000,000 changing the financial impact upon our nation from 150 to 700 billion dollars annually.
Outsourcing allows a company to save money in the short term, but over the course of time, since there will be much less money in the American economy, the cheaper costs of products and services will be rendered moot because we simply will not be able to afford them. The intermediate effect of outsourcing is that the American economy will be usurped, making unrestricted exportation of jobs a viable threat to national security. The secondary effect is a diminishment of the tax base, furthering the impact upon national security. Fewer dollars for defense, fewer dollars for law enforcement, fewer dollars to help displaced workers.
We must act now to save the future. Outsourcing is treason, and we must all stand up and demand that our elected representatives put a stop to it. For your careers sake, for your family's sake, and for your children's sake. The middle class is dying, what are YOU going to do about it?
