From the Hodgdon Powder Company web site www.hodgdon.com/news/index.htm
There are currently rumors floating around the hunting community that imply it is acceptable to use smokeless powder in muzzleloading firearms. Nothing could be further from the truth. Hodgdon Powder Company feels the need to restate the warnings that appear on all smokeless propellants we sell: "Never substitute this powder (any smokeless powder) for black or Pyrodex®. Failure to follow this warning may result in SEVERE PERSONAL injury or death to user and/or bystanders." Hodgdon Powder Company implores you, DO NOT USE SMOKELESS POWDER IN ANY MUZZLELOADING FIREARM.
Please don't hesitate to forward this message to your friends and fellow sportsmen. What may seem obvious to you may not be to others.
All the best and safe shooting,
Tom Shepherd, General Manager, Hodgdon Powder Company
