Friends of the Morton Grove Forest Preserve Important Announcement ! 501c3: WE HAVE JUST BEEN INFORMED THAT WE HAVE BEEN GRANTED 501c3 STATUS. HOORAY !! Next meeting: Tuesday, September 27, 2005, 7:00 pm American Legion / Civic Center at 6140 Dempster, Morton Grove (The craft room on the second floor, use the Main entrance on West side of building) Upcoming Workdays ( Click here for map and directions ) Saturday, September 3, from 9 to noon at Linne North. Meet at the parking lot off Dempster Street. Plans are for buckthorn cutting and seed gathering, and there are some very high quality plants in those woods. Marian and Ken are always happy to point them out to anyone who is interested. Remember to be prepared for mosquitoes. Saturday, September 10 at the Oakton College Des Plaines Campus, Parking lot C, starting at 1 pm. Just a quick note from John Thill on the upcoming Friends picnic. Please call John/Marian by September 3 to let them know how many will be coming and what you plan to bring. 847/966-0231. That way they'll have a head count for the amount of meat to purchase. Note: If the number of people who plan toattend is small, the event will be moved into Thill's backyard. SO PLEASE BE SURE TO CALL IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND. THAT WAY YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED IF THERE IS A CHANGE. September 13, 2005 for 2 work shifts; 3:30 - 5pm and 5:30 - dusk Meet at the Morton Grove Nature Preserve at Prairie View Park, 6834 Dempster Street (north of the Tennis Courts). Mary Busch has scheduled a workday for the Morton Grove Nature Preserve. It's a real gem that needs a few hours of TLC to return it to a very high quality collection of plants. It will be on Tuesday, (for other workday dates and locations, see the North Branch Restoration Website, or the current issue of Brushpiles. If you want to receive a paper copy of Brushpiles, contact Donna Clesen, and she will get you signed up)

• Remember, on September 20 the Morton Grove Historical Society will feature a guest speaker from the Metropolitan Sanitary (Water Reclamation) District. The topic will be the Deep Tunnel project and how it affects our rivers and flooding problems. We encourage everyone to attend this very interesting talk. The meeting is at the Morton Grove Public library.
• Our mailing list is up to 75, and it's our biggest expense. We want to be sure everyone wants to be on it. So if you want to continue receiving the mailing, please call John Thill (847-966-0231) or email Donna Clesen at dclesen@sbcglobal.net If we don't hear from you by next month we'll assume you are no longer interested and we'll take you off the list.
