The Best of The Worst |

Misa Kuroi, a teen witch in a Japanese school girl unform, sounds good already. Seriously, these are pretty darn good for a series of independent films from the mid-nineties. Dark, horroriffic Lovecraftian thrillers served up with a twist. The first film is dark and moody and has a strong sexual element. Teens are slaughtered in Misa's new school, is she responsible, or will she be able to stop it? The second is almost a supernatural terminator experience as an evil witch from the past returns to steal Misa's body. The third is from a different director with a new lead actress and stands out as different from the first two, with slower pacing and a more unusual story. As a trilogy, I enjoyed all three and highly recommend them. These popular films spawned a television series in Japan. Eko Eko Azarak - Wizard of Darkness (1995), Eko Eko Azarak 2- Birth of the Wizard (1996), Eko Eko Azarak 3 - Misa the Dark Angel (1997) |
