Believe it or not, I almost bought this movie, but was afraid it might be too cheesy. I went to my friend Eric's house and he had picked it up so we watched it together. I was very happy with the movies concept and pacing. It's full of incredible acrobatic stunts and lots of gun play and action sequences. If you liked the Transporter, imagine that combined with Escape from New York. This is a French action movie from producer Luc Besson and it's thrill a minute. What makes it even more impressive is the is the first movie for the director as well as the two main stars. It's a hip near future movie with just subtle touches of sci-fi, mainly it feels like a very modern movie with urban or "street" appeal. The DVD has a very long and detailed behind the scenes feature that could have used more chapter stops, but was fun and interesting.

I recommend this movie to anyone...that is, anyone willing to watch it subtitled. We started watching the dubbed version and the accent were funny and it was hard to take anyone seriously. Do yourself a favor, watch this movie...but watch it with the subtitles on. After all, you did go to school to learn to read, might as well put that skill to work for you. Great action, likeable characters, good acting and a decent story...La Femme Nikita was French, it was good...give this a shot.
